Solid state NMR studies of layered double hydroxides

Layered double hydroxides (LDH) are a versatile group of materials, which receive significant attention due to their many applications within catalysis, energy conversion and storage, drug delivery, environmental remediation, carbon dioxide sequestration. Moreover, LDH exists as minerals in Nature. Their properties can be tuned by the choice chemical composition well by, e.g., delamination form two dimensional materials or nanohybrid further increases potential applications. However, notorious for low crystallinity often inherent structural disorder, render characterization challenging. This review illustrates how solid-state NMR spectroscopy (SSNMR) has provided detailed insight into atomic level structure including distribution metal ions cation layer, dynamics interlayer water anions, formation reactivity is becoming core analytical technique, when investigated. The focusses on studies, where demanding SSNMR experiments combined with data analyses been reported and/or combination other methods have properties. it highlights some practical aspects relation studies materials.
